Just 10 days to go - but they need your support!

In just over a week, Auckland’s harbours will once again come alive with vessels of all shapes and sizes, in celebration of the founding of the ‘City of Sails’ 184 years ago.

The Oceanbridge Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta is New Zealand’s oldest sporting event, pre-dating even the America’s Cup by 11 years. It’s also one of the biggest one-day regattas in the world! It’s a much-loved tradition for the city of Auckland and an important link to our rich maritime history, and it’s one that we passionately want to uphold for future generations.

But they need your support to make that happen.

Keelboats - classic and modern - especially. Their entry numbers in the Harbour Racing fleets are sadly down this year, and they would love to see big fleets, exciting competition and an awesome spectacle on the water for the thousands of people who will be watching from the shore.

The Keelboat Harbour Race is a course of approximately 15nm, starting at Westhaven and finishing at Resolution Buoy, Orakei, so it’s convenient for those berthed in anywhere in the city, or to the east or west. It’s a fantastic opportunity to be part of an iconic event, with a  prize pool totalling over $15,000 to be won, right on your own doorstep. And the entry fee is only $40! Really - why wouldn’t you?
